If you paws and think about what connects our students to learning, you’ll know they have to be engaged. I’m a very visual person and so I definitely enjoy a good image. So when I found this app, it was as fun as playing with a ball of yarn. It’s the purrfect way to engage your students. This app combines Spanish, with the king of the Internet. I am not even kitten you right meow. Students can put the paypurr and pencil down and follow the red dot to the iphones or ipads. You can find lynks for the app and a stop to the puns below…The app “Cat Spanish” by CatAcademy is a FREE app, and is designed for learning the language by offering vocabulary tied to cat pictures. Each “set” features 3-4 phrases and you practice by matching Spanish to English, putting the words in order, listening to Spanish audio and selecting the correct words, Spanish audio to English, and selecting the phrase based on a sample conversation.
There are different levels and different challenges. It may be a cute activity to recommend to your students to practice outside of class. But the theory of learning through pictures is definitely appealing.
Read our previous post about using images, such as memes, to connect with students. I think seeing this picture is a lot more memorable than writing the words down in your notebook.
You could probably assign your students to find cat pictures on their own and write their own captions or phrases using your unit’s current vocabulary.
